My pleasure to keep you constantly updated!

The Copenhagen Accord                   January 29, 2010
Copenhagen fails to strike a binding commitments from developed countries on emission reductions and  providing financing and technology transfer for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries. Obama said: "This is not enough. We have come a long way, but we have much further to go."

Solar Energy in China                           January 29, 2010

Solar energy is the key to the long-term energy security of China that has many of the world's biggest deserts, in Gansu, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia  and Xinjiang.
China's
huge domestic market and solid resource foundation are amongst some of the valuable prerequisite requirements for the large scale development and utilization of solar energy.

China is the biggest solar water heater producer and consumer in the world, and top manufacturer of solar photovoltaics.

Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change
Financial packages for climate change mitigation (in sustainable forest management ) help reduce poverty, promote sustainable development and protect biodiversity, reduce soil erosion, improve water and nutrient retention, soil quality, air quality, visibility range, health standards, etc. January 29, 2010

Tribute to Mr. Chow Kok Kee ( Chairman Chow ) January 29, 2010
As an outstanding chairman of SBSTA, he mobilized parties on the Kyoto Protocol, and was architect of the technology framework of UNFCCC. We have truly lost a golden son of Malaysia.
As we pursue an outcome in Copenhagen, I am sure he will be helping to guide along that same path.

The Copenhagen Sea-saw                           January 29, 2010
China, India and other developing nations have been putting up a stiff opposition to binding emission targets that could harm economic growth and poverty alleviation. Instead, they urged developed nations to cut emissions by
40% - 45% in view of their historic greenhouse gas emissions

Bangladesh's Haunting Floods                     January 29, 2010

Bangladesh
is the world’s most flood-prone country. Monsoon floods and cyclones are almost annual events. Severe flooding occur every four to five years. There are many causes.

Arctic Warms Twice As Fast As the Rest of the Planet             May 30 2009
Scientists expect warming of the Arctic land mass to triple. More than 2 trillion tons of land ice have melted since 2003. Temperatures in the Arctic will rise by 4oC - 8oC in the next 100 years. The 6 ice shelves of the Ellesmere Island...

Arctic Thaw Creates an Exploration Scramble      May 28 2009
As the melting polar ice makes accessible the once-frozen shipping lanes, it also creates an exploration scramble that poses new security challenges, threatening to complicate already delicate relations between stake holding countries. Russia, Canada, the United States, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland. are rushing to establish early military presence.

Jatropha Excellent for the Second Generation Biofuel  May 23, 09

Jatropha has become a highly promising second generation biodiesel feedstock with high yield. The plant produces seeds that contain easily extractable, inedible lipid oil that is used to produce the fuel. Jatropha can be grown in a range of difficult conditions, including arid and otherwise non-arable areas, leaving prime areas available for food crops.

Rapeseed for Biofuel                                         May 22 2009
Rapeseed biodiesels produce up to 70% more greenhouse gases than fossil fuels. China is the world's leader in rapeseed cultivation, followed by India and Canada. The Yangtze River valley is the world's largest rapeseed production region, yielding one third of the world's rapeseed.

Algae For  the Third Generation Biofuel                   May 21 2009
In the quest for fossil fuel alternatives to provide greener energy, researchers are excited over the vast potential offered by algae as a source of biofuel. Algae can double their mass several times a day and produce at least 15 times more oil per acre than food crops such as soybean, sugarcane or jatropha.

Forest Management for A True Natural Forest        May 18 2009
Afforestation/Deforestation to combat desertification and climate change. Inability to identify the true motives has often nullify the true incentive behind forest management. Picture shows the Green Wall of China afforestation project to prevent further expansion of deserts to protect Beijing

Mangrove Forests, Ecotourism and Their Services to Mankind
The fireflies reside only in mangrove areas. They can only be seen in  two locations around the world. Besides Kuala Selangor in Malaysia which breeds one of the biggest firefly colonies in the world, the other being along the Amazon River in Brazil. The firefly site along the Kuala Selangor is particularly popular as it is easily accessible by boat.           January 29, 2010

Where are the Tropical Rainforests                    April 27. 2009
Rainforests flourish around the Monsoon Trough, between Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, centered around the Equator, characterized by high annual rainfall and humidity.

The Amazon Basin, the Congo Basin, the South East Asian rainforests.  The Amazon accounts for more than 54% of the world's remaining rainforests and contains a wider variety of plant and animal life than any other biome in the world. It is home to about 2.5 million insect species.

Rainforest Conservation Efforts                          April 27. 2009
Almost all the tropical rainforests in the world have been threatened. Environmental stresses are affecting plant and animal species, upsetting the natural biologic equilibrium that keeps a rainforest healthy and stable. Rainforest dynamics are changing. The warming climate may cause the tropical forests to give off more carbon dioxide...

Why Are We So Concerned about Rainforest Disappearing

Tropical rainforest is one of the Earth's most treasured natural jewels and the oldest living ecosystem. Rainforests have evolved over millions of years to turn into the incredibly complex environments they are today. They harbor the greatest gene pool in the world. Every second, there is 1.5 acres of forest land loss. Experts fear that the forests will be lost by 2050.                                                  April 25 2009

Malaysia Has Huge Reserve of Carbon Credits    April 19 2009
Carbon credit is a relatively new business, but Malaysians have something to be proud of. It is the first country in the world to be awarded carbon credits. Project types include biomass energy from palm oil waste, landfill....

The Carbon Credit Trading and its Darker Side   April 19 2009

20% of the carbon credits issued did not match genuine reductions, thus risks creating a false sense of security. Critics have lots to be unhappy about: CDM process has been manipulated. Objectives are noble, but the complex trading system is open to abuses...

Biodiversity in Malaysia                                April 19 2009

Malaysia has only 0.2% of the land mass of the world, but it has one of the world's richest biodiversity of fauna and flora.
It is one of the 12 mega diversity countries..

President Obama and Climate Change                  Mar 2009
The future of our planet is at stake. Global warming is not a someday problem, it is now. Polar ice caps are now melting faster than science had ever predicted. This is not the future I want for my daughters. It's not the future any of us want for our children. If we act now , it doesn't have to be..

  Cap-and-Trade                                                 Mar 2009

They are established with a noble objective to save the Earth from global warming. Monetary returns are primarily incentives intended for sustaining development in clean energies and for greening the Earth, not for selfish human greed!

Climate Change and  Biodiversity                        Mar 2009
Why biodiversity matters? Climate change is partly responsible for the loss of biodiversity. The global rate of species extinction is 100 - 1000 times the natural rate.
